Última reseña por un tiempo, creo. Todo bien, pero leer a las apuradas y estar forzada a escribir reseñas... no creo que sea para mi :S Aunque parece que puedo hacerla entrar en el concurso a esta también, así que eso es un bonus :P

Ooooohhhh Mmyyy Goooooddd!! I loved it!!! This was a BEAUTIFUL story! I wish it was a bit longer and that a few issues were a bit more detailed, but it was a gorgeous read anyway!

Both Tucker and Gracie are broken people, they've gone through a lot but they're strong and they're survivers, so when they find each other it feels like they've found their place on earth, their home. Finally.
He has a completely different past than hers, his childhood was a really good one and he's always had his family with him. She, on the other hand, doesn't even know what a family is supposed to be like, and her self worth is just non existing because of it.with Tucker's love she's capable of dreaming a better life for herself and then she realize it doesn't have to be just a dream. In return, Tucker finds out he's not less of a man because he was injured in Iraq, he doesn't always have to be the guy that puts fear in everyone's mind with just one look... Grace makes him realize he's worthy of love and she gives it to him.

I loved the outline of the characters from the very first page of the book, so noe I know I love how Savannah writes and, therefore, I just HAVE to read her other books ;)

Beautiful story, don't miss the chance to read it!

I have to say, this was a love story like I haven't read in years!
I'm a bit sick of all the sex and drama that it's been used in romance books lately. Is like, if there isn't a huge trauma from the past and a super hot tattoed hunk or a Mr. Sexy Money on the plot, the story won't work. I mean, come on!!

If You Loved Me is a great story because is more realistic, because is about two people that loved each other in the past and are reconnected 20 years later --when they're responsible adults-- and all that was between them comes back up like an unstoppable fire. But their lives are so different there's no way a relationship would work for them. They knew that as teenagers and they know it now. Still, there is a force pulling them together that neither of them can control.

There were a couple of things I didn't loved, but is not like there were that bad. I mean, first the whole thing with her son being missing... the part where they find the boys it was a bit too easyly resolved, I think, because after all that tension and fear it only took like two pages to have it all sorted out... I believe it could have been better, but I also understand that the story wasn't really about that, it was about Emma and Gray, so they needed to finish what they'd started.
Second, both of them are very stubborn people that are fixated in the fact there is no way to unify their worlds. But then an explanation coming out of Gray's past is what brings it all to a perfectly round end... I mean, he was a complicated man who didn't want to admit his feelings, but I don't think it was necessary to "explain" his attitude with a childhood drama, I think they could have figured it out together if they'd really wanted to.

Leaving that aside, I loved this story, it was mature and sexy and realistic and... and I just loved it :D

I think I could have given this book more stars... if it wasn't for the ending.

I really liked the story, Star is a broken girl that doesn't know who she is anymore and lives her life in a haze produced by her abusive boyfriend and her "man-dependant" mother. Until one day she snaps out of it and runs away. 
Shane is a kid that had to grow up way too fast and, of course, made a hell of a mess trying to do it. He finally puts his life together but he's still a bit lost... until he meets Star.
Up until here, good.

Now, at the begining Star is portrayed as someone who's been through a whole lot and has a few cross wires in her head --like enjoying sex with someone that has just beat her up-- but as soon as she leaves town she seems someone entirely different. When she starts her new life she's suddenly more shy, less sexual or aggresive... she's kind of a lamb... and someone in that position should be more guarded and suspicious, shouldn't it? Or at least not capable of trusting complete strangers from day one, no matter how good those people are. I just didn't get exactly who she was. 

Still, I liked the story and I was about to give it 4 or maybe 4.5 stars... until I read the last 3 chapters: Ugh! 
The whole scene when she's attacked by Derek, a scene that we were basically waiting the whole book because we knew he was going to find a way to get to her sooner or later... it was described really fast, like if the author just wanted to get it over with. The rape wasn't even uncomfortable to read because it was just another of Derek sex scenes (he has more sex on the book than the main couple), and the same is applied to his death or Shane and Star's "reunion" in the hospital. There's no mention whatsoever of her recovery or how much time passed until their wedding or her medical problems to conceive, which were magically resolved. 

That was no way to end a book that was going pretty well, all things considered. I'm just saying.

A continuación les dejo mi reseña de un libro que acabo de leer porque al hacerlo participo para ganar plata para comprar más libros online. Si, lo se, soy una interesada jajajaja, pero con los problemas que hay para comprar en dolares en mi país una tiene que hacer lo que sea para poder mantener viva la lectura. Así que acá estoy, de pronto aprendiendo a escribir reseñas para ver si me gano unos dolares en Amazon, por lo tanto la reseña está en inglés. This was a really good story... Is just that, even though I read the summary and everything, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting to read, so it took me a while to realize how good it really was. That's kinda the strongest reason why I didn't give it more stars.
The beggining was a bit slow... Actually, I think the whole book was slow, but that was just the rythm of the story. The problem is that I was hoping it would go a bit faster :S

This is a story of life, second chances, friendship, family, loss and love. Is a story about a simple girl with a simple life and to whom lady luck did not dealt a nice hand. This is also the story of a guy that could have made more of his life, but he's stuck in the one lousy moment he got in life and can't get out of it. And this is the story of how the girl helps him out of his self imposed cage and he helps her live a little before is too late, while in the meantime they fight like dogs, hahaha. 

It's a great story with an important message. Is not the kind of story I was hoping to read and it wasn't until I got to about 60% of the book that I actually started reading non-stop. I think the slow pace of it might be a problem for some people, but to those I say: don't stop reading!! The last half gets better and the ending is completely worth it ;)

Una linda sorpresa...

Me contactó un autor en Goodreads para darme una muestra gratis de su libro a cambio de una reseña honesta!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! es la primera vez que me sucede algo así!!!!
Todo gracias al libro "Tangled" de Emma Chase que, como está escrito desde un punto de vista masculino y yo escribí una reseña porque me resultó bastante creíble, el autor me preguntó si me interesaba leer el suyo, que también tiene protagonista masculino pero con la importante diferencia de que ÉL, el autor, también es hombre.
Debo admitir que, leyendo la reseña del libro en Amazon no me llamó mucho la atención, probablemente porque se le nota una característica invisible que dice "Libro para hombres" jajajajaja pero puede ser que yo esté siendo prejuiciosa porque sé el género del autor, así que en realidad me conviene darle una oportunidad. De hecho, leí libros escritos por hombres con protagonistas femeninas y que me parecieron excelentes (ej. "Bajo la misma estrella" de John Green).

Esto que les cuento no es nada nuevo, en el mundo literiario online ya es moneda corriente hacer conocer tu libro de esta manera, apelando directamente al público en lugar de confiar en las reseñas de los críticos, ya que muchas veces esas están reservadas para los autores de renombre.
Pero para mi, que no suelo escribir reseñas a menos que el libro en cuestión haya dejado su huella (y a veces ni eso! a veces no escribo nada, al menos no en Goodreads! creo que esta es mi primer reseña en serio ahí), recibir semejante invitación es una sorpresa total!!
Así que, gente, deseenme una feliz -o, al menos, amena- lectura!!!

Es estúpido enamorarte de la ex de tu hermano. Peor aún es reclutar a otra persona para que te ayude a ganarte a esa ex. Pero Brody está desesperado y Hayley, su compañera en el Lenguaje de Señas Americano, está más que dispuesta a prestarle un par de consejos.

Me enamoré de esta historia.
A pesar de que siempre metemos a los hombres en una misma bolsa y pensamos que a esa edad solo ven el paquete, sé que no siempre es así y que uno de cada un millón pueden ser como el de este libro. Y a no confundirse, el chico no es perfecto ni de cerca, pero la manera en que está expresado su pensamiento, su personalidad, lo hacen muy real...
Si yo hubiera tenido un chico así en mi vida a los 17 años, hoy sería una mujer completamente diferente. Lo cual demuestra que yo nunca fui, ni seré lo suficientemente extraordinaria como para que estas cosas me sucedan a mi :S

Leyendo el Nº 62... aprox.

Bueeenas! Este año me enganché en la idea de otros amigos bloggeros de contar cuantos libros leo en el año y ver si podía llegar a los 50... Bueno, esa marca la pasé hace rato, ya que según mis cuentas voy por el número 62. Digo "según mis cuentas" porque yo considero toda historia menor a 100 páginas como que no es un "libro" (al menos no para este ranking), así que cuando leía de esos sumaba las páginas hasta un número medianamente normal (cerca de 200) y recién ahí añadía uno más a la lista. Pero también es cierto que en un momento me puse a leer historias muy cortitas, de 10, 15 o 30 páginas máximo, y ahí medio que perdí la cuenta y le mandé un número "a ojo" en mi lista. Igual, calculando como a principios de año llevaba la cuenta rigurosamente, vale decir que es un promedio en mi vida leer unos 7 libros mensuales y, de esa manera, los números actuales más o menos cierran.

Entonces, se me ocurrió (ya que esto lo escribí recién para un grupo de lectores en facebook) colgar una pequeña reseña y opinión del libro que estoy leyendo actualmente. Podría escribir algo sobre los que leí antes, hubo algunos que me requetecontra gustaron (la saga Divergente de Veronica Roth es IN-CRE-Í-BLE!!! quiero que salga el 3º ya!) pero tengo ganas de hacerlo con este :P
Les pido que recuerden que la parte en la que doy mi opinión puede contener spoilers. Generalmente trato de evitarlos, pero por si acaso, aviso.
Ah! y yo leo en inglés, no tengo idea de si este ya está traducido... perdones! :S

Mi opinión: 

Ok, así que así está la cosa: Todavía no voy ni por la mitad, así que no puedo decir mucho, pero desde la primera página hubo algo que me llamó la atención y eso es el estilo literario de la autora.... Siento que estoy viviendo una historia en los años 90. No es que esté basada en esa época, no hay referencias específicas ni nada de eso, pero es una sensación de como son los personajes, los problemas que tienen... no se, es la voz de la autora que me posicionó automáticamente en esa época y, sinceramente, no debería ser un problema, excepto que me mantenía en duda continuamente.
Los personajes son demasiado maduros o demasiado conscientes sobre sus problemas "mentales" para la edad que tienen (ella 20 y el 22), es decir, ¿qué hombre es capaz de pensar que tiene "mami issues"? de seguro no uno tan joven; los estilos -si no de ropa, al menos de cabello- que tranquilamente se pueden aplicar al hoy en día, a mi me hacen ruido, me imagino a la madre de ella como una de esas mujeres ricas de Beverly Hills que te mostraban en los 90, casi que hasta le veo las hombreras :S; no logro entender la voz interna de la protagonista, cuando hace chistes sobre su peso veo que son graciosos pero no puedo leerlos con el tono que se supone que deberían sonar.

PEQUEÑÍSIMO SPOILER
Cuando ya me estaba acostumbrando a mi forma de verlo y simplemente me empecé a imaginar un setting de los 90, hacen la primer referencia a un teléfono celular lo suficientemente chico como para meterlo en el corpiño, así que ahí me cagaron la teoría. Pero es que hasta cuando intercambiaron números lo hicieron usando lápiz y papel!!!

Mi teoría es que la autora lo escribió hace mil años, cuando Nora Roberts, Susan Elizabeth Phillips y Danielle Steel estaban en pleno apogeo y ella leía sus libros, y que finalmente fue editado y publicado ahora, entonces le cambiaron solo un par de cosas, lo suficiente como para traerlo al siglo XXI. 

En fin, creo que la historia tiene mérito, puede llegar a ser muy buena si está bien escrita, así que por ahora solo me queda seguir leyendo ;)

Anexo: 19/09 a las 22hs

Acabo de terminar el libro y ya se que esta noche me voy a dormir llorando... No solo porque la historia fue una de las más hermosas que leí en mi vida, sino porque la autora en sus agradecimientos me hizo sentir aún más tocada, siendo ella también una mujer gorda y habiendo conocido a un hombre capaz de amarla y hacer que ella se ame a si misma también. Yo quiero eso para mi. Pero a veces siento que ya estoy vieja para esa clase de amor. Si no me sucedió cuando era joven y "creer" en el amor es más fácil para las dos partes, cómo voy a encontrar alguien así a esta altura de mi vida? Hace años que me condiciono a mi misma para no esperar más una historia como esta, para no soñar más con lo imposible, y después leo y me enamoro y se me rompe el corazón otra vez.
Este libro definitivamente es uno de mis preferidos para toda la eternidad, pero por mi salud mental dudo que alguna vez vuelva a leerlo. 

Cuando la lectura te ofusca....

Hola mis amigos!!! Acá les vengo a dejar la reseña y mi -muy entusiasta- opinión sobre el libro Unsticky de Sarra Manning, el cual leí hace cosa de un mes atrás y todavía me genera ciertas emociones cuando lo recuerdo...

Reseña (Desafortunadamente creo que aún no está en español :S sorry!)

Y ahora empieza la parte de opinología. Tengan en cuenta que por mucho que yo intento no dar spoilers, en este caso habrán más de uno seguramente. En especial porque cuando escribí esto recién terminaba de leer el libro y tenía todas las emociones a flor de piel, lo cual dificulta la objetividad, jejeje.

Primero quiero decir que Sarra Manning es una excelente escritora, me encanta su estilo, por lo tanto en términos técnicos este es un gran libro. También debo decir que la historia tiene un giro inesperado, lo cual siempre es un buen gancho y los personajes principales tienen unas personalidades que no son las típicas, actúan y dicen cosas que realmente me sorprendieron mucho, lo cual los hace ser excelentes personajes para un libro. Todo eso sumado hace que esta sea una Excelente historia.

Dicho eso, dejo los tecnicismos de lado y expreso mi más humilde opinión al decir, con todas mis fuerzas, que ¡¡¡¡¡¡LO ODIEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! O mejor dicho, odié las situaciones, odié a Grace con su moral tan patética y realmente odié a Vaughn con su actitud despectiva y su completa y total falta de simpatía por los sentimientos de otros. Pero creo que la gota que rebalsó el vaso fue todo el tema del contrato... ya tuve suficiente de eso en Fifty Shades, la verdad es que no me gustó para nada ese giro. Además, ella no parece del todo enganchada con él, así que cuando decide aceptarlo por la plata se me termina de caer toda la estantería! Digo, no es lo mismo que Fifty Shades, pero en algunos sentidos es peor porque hay dinero involucrado!!! :S

Me molestó mucho ya como pintaba Grace desde un principio, es una pushover, lo cual no me molesta porque suele ser una cualidad que entiendo, pero el hecho de que gaste más dinero del que tiene para vivir y que ya haya tenido un problema con los bancos y aún así sigue haciendo las mismas tonterías.... uuuggghhh me molesta muchísimo. Y después que fuera capaz de firmar un contrato de esa índole! Pero lo que más ODIE de ella fue que cuando llegó el punto crítico de la historia (esos fatídicos 30 días) ella se terminó comportando como una verdadera PROSTITUTA. 

Y Vaughn, uuuuuuuffffff como lo DETESTÉ!!!! quería matarlo!!!! durante esas páginas, más o menos unas 80 antes de terminar el libro, quise matarlos a los dos muchas veces! Leía una frase y revoleaba el libro a la cama bufando de frustración, lo levantaba y leía otra y me ponía a gritarle insultos a ella en mi cabeza y después a la siguiente frase le gritaba a él, hasta que volvía a revolear el libro y me tomaba unos minutos para tranquilizarme antes de volver a agarrarlo. En un momento llegué al punto de literalmente gritar a viva voz (y en inglés encima) YOU ARE A WHORE!!!!!!!! AND YOU ARE A FUCKING BASTARD!!!!!!!

En reducidas cuentas, el libro me empezó a gustar llegando más o menos a la mitad de la historia, después vino el ataque de histeria y si, el final de finales me gustó, pero no compensó por todo lo que no me gustó anteriormente. Es decir, dejando de lado el hecho de que yo JAMÁS habría firmado ese dichoso contrato, vamos al punto en que él la trató taaaaaaaaan mal a ella, la trató como a una puta durante toda la historia ¡y ella se lo permitió! No solo eso, sino que ella misma admitió cosas que me llevaron a pensar en cómo era realmente su carácter, como era su persona para hacer esas cosas, y entonces pensé "sos una puta", y bufaba yo de la exasperación. Y aunque al final se hayan explicado un montón de cosas, razones por las que el carácter de él era así, razones por las cuales él reaccionó de cierta manera... si, todo muy lindo, pero eso no borra todo lo que hizo. Y ella encima es una huevona que todavía y hasta tiene que pedirle perdón por la única cosa que ella hizo "mal"?; yyyyyy también es ella la que tiene que dar el primer paso para arreglar las cosas; yyyyyyyy encima le costó bastante convencerlo!! Nononononono, a mi con esas no! Por qué mierda se tiene que rebajar tanto?!?! Tan solo porque son dos desastres de persona que cuando están juntos estan un poco mejor?!?! NO ES SUFICIENTE.

La verdad, debo reconocer que es un gran libro por el simple hecho de que genera tantas emociones que no se puede pasar por alto. Una lástima que las emociones que me generó a mi en particular fueran, en su mayoría, negativas.
